2017年より、皆様のご協力のもと毎年開催してまいりました「ALS Café」も、本年で9回目を迎える運びとなりました。

これまで本会は、患者療養支援およびPPI（患者・市民参画）を目的としてまいりましたが、今回は日本神経学会主催のもと、田辺三菱製薬医学教育助成事業「Patient Advocate Program（患者・支援者養成プログラム）」として開催いたします。

テーマは、”ALSを学び、未来を変える” です。

ALS患者・市民が、将来の臨床研究や臨床試験でチームの一員として関わることができるよう、本プログラムをその第一歩として試行的に実施したいと考えております。

日本国内においては、がん領域では既に数年前からこうした取り組みが進められており、今後は神経疾患領域でも関心が高まっていくものと期待されます。その中で、ALSがこの分野の先陣を切ることが出来ればと願っております。

当日は、厚労省、AMED、PMDAや製薬会社の方々も参加予定です。患者・支援者と医療・行政・企業の共創でALS克服に向けた未来図を皆様と描きたいと考えております。

We have been organizing the “ALS Café” every year since 2017 with the support and cooperation of many people, and this year marks the 9th edition of the event.

The event has primarily focused on supporting people living with ALS and promoting Patient and Public Involvement (PPI). This year, however, we plan to host it as part of the “Patient Advocate Program,” under the auspices of the Japanese Society of Neurology.

The theme of this year’s event is “Learning about ALS to Change the Future.”
Through this program, we hope to take the first step toward enabling people living with ALS and members of the public to become active participants in future clinical research and trials as part of the team.

In Japan, such initiatives have already been progressing in the field of oncology for several years, and we expect growing interest in the neurological field as well. We hope that ALS can take the lead in advancing this important movement.

Representatives from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), AMED, PMDA, and pharmaceutical companies are also expected to attend. Through collaboration among people living with ALS, advocates, healthcare professionals, government, and industry, we hope to envision a shared future for overcoming ALS.
