Development and Evaluation of Online Teaching Materials Based on Experiments and Observations of Secondary Education Science Classes Oriented toward GSC through the Process of Inquiry

The purpose of this study is to develop and evaluate online teaching materials through collaborative research conducted by Japanese, Thai, and Malaysian research teams, based on experiments and the observation of secondary education science classes oriented toward Green and Sustainable Chemistry (GSC). The development and evaluation will be conducted through the process of inquiry.

Therefore, by setting a learning objective which makes students conceptualize a sustainable society through problem-solving activities, the students were asked to view videos of experiments related to sustainability using experiments and observation materials commonly utilized in all three countries. Through this process, this study will develop online teaching materials that will foster motivation and a sense of responsibility among students to channel their scientific knowledge into society.

Then, the developed teaching materials will be distributed to educators, including science teachers and students aspiring to become science teachers. These materials will provide an avenue to learn, think about, and discuss scientific learning that, in turn, will raise the caliber and abilities of the students. In addition, the online teaching materials will be applied at teacher training universities and teacher training sessions conducted in each country in order to evaluate their effectiveness.
